(Title : Thanksgiving itself is faithMain Passage : Luke17:11~19)

11. Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee.  12. As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him.  They stood at a distance  13. and called out in a loud voice, "Jesus, Master, have pity on us!"

14. When he saw them, he said, "Go, show yourselves to the priests." And as they went, they were cleansed.  15. One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising  God in a loud voice16. He threw himself at Jesus' feet and thanked him -- and he was a           Samaritan.  17. Jesus asked, "Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine?

18. Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this  foreigner?"

19. Then he said to him, "Rise and go; your faith has made you well."

1. Introductory Questions

 ○ When are you most happy? --> when people around you express their gratitude to you

 ○ When are parents(cell leaders) most happy? --> when their children (cell members)

      offer their thanksgiving to them

 ○ When is God most happy? --> when we give thanks to Him

2. Background

 ○ Leprosy in Biblical times was a terrible thing which is today known as "Hansen's Disease,"

   (Lev.13:45-46).

  - Whatever it was, once a person caught it, it was considered incurable,  and those

diagnosed  with leprosy were banned from society(v.12 at a distance)

 ○ Ten lepers were healed by Jesus, but only one man came back,  praised and thanked God

    - The lepers have called out loudly to ask for mercy(v.13)

but only one leper offers loud thanksgiving and praise(v.15)

 ○ Giving thanks to God can be called as the highest faith

3. What is thanksgiving?

1) Thanksgiving is looking back(seeing) ==> when he saw(v.15)

   ○ Looking back(reflecting) on what kinds of blessings God has given is  very important

   ○ Why is it difficult to give thanks to God? ==> because we don't look back on(see)

our blessings and count out them.

 2) Thanksgiving is giving praise to God (v.18)

   - Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this  foreigner?"(v.18)  ==>

Are you like the other nine or like the thankful one?

   - Many times we say we want to glorify God through our life

=> How can we glorify God ? -> By giving thanks to God

   - Even when we fall down, thanksgiving is possible if we praise God

   - Even small amount of thanksgiving can make us alive spiritually

   - Let's set our thank-God attitude on fire again^^

 3) Thanksgiving itself is faith in God (v.19)

   - "your faith has made you well"

   - Coming back to praise God, that's the real faith

   - Thanksgiving is to confess that God is behind every situation

   - Only people with faith in God can give thanks to God
